Multiplying Generosity: Safety Bay Clients Rally for Kenora’s Hospital

At Safety Bay Financial, our mission has always been clear: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients and the community we call home. Earlier this year, that commitment was reflected in a unique giving initiative supporting the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation (LWDHF).

In February, the Foundation launched its Beyond the Scan (BTS) Campaign, aimed at funding a new Diagnostic Imaging Centre of Excellence for Kenora. The campaign’s goal: to bring advanced diagnostic tools—including an MRI, CT scanner, and upgraded mammography unit—to the region, improving access to life-saving care for families across Northwestern Ontario.

Safety Bay Financial, together with the ABC Gow Family Fund, introduced a matching challenge to encourage client participation. For every dollar donated to the BTS Campaign, Safety Bay and the ABC Gow Family Fund would each match the first $6,250 in client contributions. Thanks to the generosity of the FDC Foundation, which matched all donations during the campaign period, this became a quadruple match that turned every dollar into four.

The response from our clients was nothing short of inspiring. By the end of April, 22 clients had contributed a total of $38,302. With our combined match of $12,500, the total impact reached $50,802, a remarkable show of support for local healthcare. Shawn and Bill shared: “We invited our valued clients and friends to step forward and make their donations go further to ensure that critical diagnostic imaging equipment is available for patients close to home, providing earlier detection and better health outcomes. Together we can make a real difference.” The BTS Campaign is helping transform healthcare in Kenora, and we’re honoured to have played a role in that effort.

To our clients who joined us in this initiative: thank you. Your generosity is helping ensure that critical diagnostic imaging is available close to home, where it’s needed most.
