At Safety Bay Financial, we believe that truly understanding the companies our clients invest in is essential to providing sound financial advice. That’s why Bill Gow, CFP, goes beyond the numbers—he visits businesses firsthand, meeting with the people who shape their future.
In March 2016, Bill traveled to Las Vegas Motor Speedway to meet Marcus Smith, President of Speedway Motorsports Inc., a company that owns and operates several major racetracks across the United States. This visit was an opportunity to see the business in action and to speak directly with the leadership team responsible for delivering value to shareholders and fans alike.
Marcus Smith shared insights into his father’s founding vision: investing in facilities to create memorable experiences for race fans and cultivating lifelong loyalty. Today, that vision continues to guide the company’s strategy, with a focus on enhancing the spectator experience and building a strong, sustainable business.
What stood out during the visit was the company’s commitment to its employees and its fans. Even during challenging times, Speedway Motorsports prioritized maintaining the race day experience, demonstrating a long-term approach to both business and people.
Site visits like this are an important part of our process at Safety Bay Financial. By “kicking the tires” and meeting with management, Bill ensures that our clients’ investments are in capable hands. It’s a level of dedication that sets our practice apart—Bill personally covers his travel and accommodations to gain a deeper understanding of the companies in our portfolios.
As Gregg Filmon, President of Value Partners Investments, notes: “Bill goes the extra mile spending the time necessary to truly understand the companies we own in the VPI Pools. It’s a commitment which very few advisors make.”
At Safety Bay Financial, we’re proud to offer this level of diligence and care. Our clients can be confident that their investments are managed with integrity, insight, and a personal touch.
